The Bond Bug 1970-74
A classic icon of the 1970s the Bond
Bug was a small British, three wheeled, wedge shaped micro-sportscar.
Reliant who owned The Bond Motor Company
commissioned Tom Karen from Ogle Designs to design the car.
Based on the Reliant Regal chassis and
running gear the car had a lift up roof/canopy and side screens instead of
doors. Available in any colour that you liked as long as it was orange, though
some special editions were made in other colours.
With the range topping 700ES model
with the 31bhp engine it was capable of 78mph which was quite quick at the time
and the Bond Bug actually cost more than a base Mini.
Models in the range were: 700 (Base Model), 700E (Mid Range) and 700ES (Top of Range)
